Päivän kuvani on matka naapurimaahan


Parin viime viikon aikana on aamuisin ollut kylmää, mutta aurinko on lämmittänyt mukavasti iltapäivisin. Viikko sitten kävin ostoksilla lähimmässä Ikeassa, joka sijaitsee 130 km Oulusta pohjoiseen, Ruotsin Haaparannassa. Tornio, Haaparannan suomalaisen naapurikaupunki, järjesti tänä viikonloppuna Suomen suurimmat pilkkikisat. Tornion ja Haaparannan keskustat kasvavat yhteen, kaupungit tunnetaankin myös nimellä Twin City.


It has been cold in the mornings during the past two weeks but the sun has warmed nicely during the afternoons. A week ago I went shopping in the nearest Ikea which is situated 130 km to the north from Oulu, in Haaparanta, Sweden. In Tornio, the neighboring Finnish town of Haaparanta, organized the biggest ice fishing event in Finland this weekend. The centers of Tornio and Haaparanta are growing together, therefore the cities are also known as the Twin City.

A rather cloudy start to the day, but some bright or sunny spells can be expected to develop by afternoon. Feeling pleasantly warm in the brighter conditions, with light winds.

Viikko 10 / Week 10

Vesisadetta ja pilvistä on ollut hiihtolomaviikolla. Lauantaina aurinko lopulta paistoi ja kutsui ulkoilemaan. 13 m/s puhaltava tuuli teki ilman kylmäksi, mutta se ei haitannut. Kävelimme naapurini kanssa n. 8 km ja otimme valokuvia Nallikarissa. Näin lumetonta hiihtolomaa en muista kokeneeni ikinä.






It has been rainy and cloudy during the winter holidays. At last the sun was shining on Saturday calling people to go outdoors. The wind was blowing 13 m/s but it didn't matter. My neighbour and I walked about 8 km and took photos at Nallikari. I don't remember ever experiencing as snowless winter break as this one.

Parts of Britain have enjoyed the warmest day of the year so far with the highest temperature of 20.5C recorded at Gravesend in Kent.

Forecasters say the sunny weather is not set to last as a band of cloud moving down from Scotland overnight will give way to a cooler start on Monday.

Strong winds and heavy rain this evening, with rain becoming less heavy during the second part of the night and also less windy. Rain perhaps clearing the east coast by dawn, with clearer conditions following in the west.
